The New Beijing Airport by the Iconic Zaha Hadid Architects
Just as we thought China’s wave of unique structures had peaked, the world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid unveils her designs for the new Beijing international airport. The ‘Queen of the Curve’ has cleverly designed the mega building that bursts into four spears from a central atrium, making it efficient for passengers to reach their allocated gates. With the construction taking shape and the overall design soaring to high levels, it is set to become the world’s largest airport once complete. Rising in the South of Beijing, the airport should be ready for take-off in 2019 and will accommodate up to 100 million passengers a year. We look forward to seeing the completed development as the new terminal becomes a key hub in Beijing’s growing transport network.
