Silversea Immersive Gala Dinner 2024

Every year, Silversea embarks on a 132-day odyssey, whisking its VIP guests away on a Far East – West Cruise to discover the planet’s most extraordinary destinations. With Shanghai on the itinerary for this year, our event planning team in China was called upon to craft a once-in-a-lifetime culinary experience, set against the backdrop of Shanghai’s bustling cityscape, after three years of eager anticipation.

As many of Silversea’s guests had previously travelled to Shanghai in the last century, we opted to privatise one of the most iconic buildings of the city’s skyline – a building that these guests would have witnessed the construction and completion of back in 1994 – the Oriental Pearl Tower. Amidst breathtaking panoramic views, guests were invited to indulge in a four-course gala dinner within a landmark steeped in history and innovation. This intimate evening included traditional performances that merged cultures from both East and West, such as the soul-stirring melodies of the Chinese Erhu and piano, and the resounding beats of a captivating drum performance that transported them into a bygone era of Chinese heritage and artistic expression.

Throughout the evening, guests were treated to a delightful surprise as the event transformed into a modern spectacle. At the introduction of each course, the ambiance shifted, revealing a mesmerising display of UV calligraphy paintings, meticulously crafted by a local Chinese artist. Each tablecloth, adorned with unique artwork, remained hidden until illuminated by black lights, while the bouquets on each table bloomed extra bright with their glow-in-the-dark treatment. As the night came to an end in sync with the completion of the revolving restaurant’s 360-degree rotation, guests departed with unforgettable memories of Shanghai’s cityscape.

From concept to execution, our event planning team in Shanghai poured creativity and expertise into this immersive gala dinner, ensuring that every moment unfolded seamlessly and every guest experienced the magic of Silversea’s world-renowned hospitality. With meticulous precision, we orchestrated the transition from traditional to modern, creating a dynamic and engaging atmosphere that captivated guests from start to finish.
