Airlines Going Plastic-Free

On average, a flight passenger creates 1.4 kilograms of waste per journey. On a plane of 400 passengers would result in approximately half a tonne of disposed trash per flight. As a result, there is a growing trend of airlines that are committing to be single-use plastic free. Leading the conversation are airlines such as Etihad Airways, Hi Fly and Emirates, which have already actualised on their promise. Replacing cutlery, cups, straws and containers with eco-friendly alternatives made out of paper, bamboo or biodegradable materials, these airlines are taking the first steps to go plastic-free. We are always observing and taking inspiration from the efforts other industries are making in their front to become more environmentally sustainable.
