Touring Asia on a Cruise
Did you know that Asia is the third largest cruise region, following closely behind North America and Europe? In 2018, Asia hit a record high of 4.24 million cruise passengers. Additionally, it was found that nine out of ten Asian travellers chose to cruise within Asia. These findings may come as no surprise as the region’s GDP growth thrives and the consumers continue to indulge in luxury travel options. The recent launch of cruises geared towards the Asia market is testament to the region’s growth. The Royal Caribbean is gearing up to debut its newest ship servicing Asia in 2019, the Spectrum of the Seas, “a Far East adventure full of feats and firsts designed with Chinese guests in mind.” Setting sail from metropolises like Shanghai, Hong Kong, Singapore and Japan, the Royal Caribbean is taking advantage of the eager travellers in the region. Cruise is the fastest growing sector in Asia’s leisure travel category, and we are thrilled for the opportunities that the development may bring.
