Xmas Trees to Remember
The festive season is here and we have been on the lookout for the latest trends around the world. Innovative Xmas tree installations from the likes of Claridge’s, London, The Upper House Hong Kong, and our very own Shanghai Xintiandi. The quintessentially British property, Claridge’s, has recently unveiled its 2017 Xmas tree design, which was commissioned by the spectacular Karl Lagerfeld, who put his mind to work. Following Burberry’s 2015 metallic umbrella tree and the 2016 immersive light box tree, it was hard to beat. Traditionally decorated adorned with silver lametta decorations, feathers, snowflakes, candles, and mirrors, the tree is suspended upside down from the hotel’s ceiling, giving a different perspective.Hong Kong’s Upper House Hotel showcases a festive tree with a twist. Using illuminated glass that exemplifies traditional techniques, dramatic textures and contemporary forms, they have created something quite unique. However, look no further than what is in Shanghai Xintiandi, with an interactive crystal globe Xmas tree that allows people to enter inside and change the appearance of the tree by touching various panels. Each year the trees get more fabulous and obscure; be sure to check out these creative works of art if you are in the area!
