The St. Regis Qingdao – Grand Opening

The St. Regis Qingdao Hotel recently held its grand opening at the Haitian Center in Qingdao, China. As well as being the tallest hotel in Shandong, this new addition also marks the debut of St Regis Hotels in the province. Riviera Events was selected to support and manage this prestigious opening, with approximately 220 guests attending. The distinguished guest list included hotel corporates, executive committees, owners, government officials, media and corporate VIPs.

The event was divided into three main phases: the ribbon-cutting opening ceremony, a gala luncheon, and the historic Caroline dinner. The latter, also called the Midnight Supper, traces its origins to Caroline Astor, mother of St Regis’ founder and socialite known for her exclusive 400 guests. The private Midnight supper was also attended by well-known opera actor Zheng Yunlong.

The evening was set against a backdrop of blue and gold, representing the seaside location of Qingdao and the New York Gilded Age origins of St Regis respectively. Rivera provided the creative design for the event, as well as high-quality performances and event production.
