Introduction

To celebrate the launch of the renewed Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel, Riviera Events created an immersive experience that brought the property’s rich heritage, cultural identity, and new chapter to life.

Held in August 2026, Rebirth of an Icon invited guests to journey through the hotel’s history through live performance, exhibition, Thai cultural storytelling, contemporary art, and a spectacular ballroom finale.

Rather than presenting the hotel’s heritage as a conventional display, the event transformed its story into a multisensory experience that guests could explore, observe, and connect with.

From Memory to New Legacy

The guest journey began at Montathip Court, where three immersive experiences transported guests into different chapters of Siamese life and the hotel’s history.

Act I: A Memory of Home recreated an intimate domestic scene, offering a glimpse into traditional family life, craftsmanship, and the everyday rhythms of Siam’s past. Act II: The Art of the Sword shifted the atmosphere to a traditional sword-training ground, combining live performance, Thai instrumentation, and battlefield-inspired scenery to create a sense of movement and drama.

The journey continued with Act III: From Memory to New Legacy, an exhibition exploring the evolution of the property. A large-scale exhibition wall and curated display tables featured archival photographs, letters, fragrances, scarves, memorabilia, and a lightbox timeline tracing the hotel’s transformation into Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel.

A Living Canvas

One of the evening’s most memorable moments was A Living Canvas, which brought the iconic Grand Staircase Mural to life through contemporary animation.

By transforming the hotel’s artistic heritage into a large-scale moving visual experience, the installation created a powerful connection between the property’s past and its renewed identity. The combination of scale, movement, and storytelling made it a standout visual highlight for guests.

Rebirth of an Icon

The evening culminated in the Ballroom with the final Rebirth of an Icon performance.

Beginning with a powerful drum sequence, the performance unfolded through large-scale puppetry and Thai sword fighting before transitioning into a celestial celebration featuring divine and fairy figures. The narrative moved from battle and victory toward blessing, renewal, and rebirth, reflecting the launch concept and reinforcing the hotel’s new chapter.

The performance also extended the visual language introduced through A Living Canvas, creating a seamless connection between the exhibition journey and the main ceremony.

Creating an Immersive Guest Experience

The event welcomed invited guests, VIPs, partners, stakeholders, and friends of Anantara Siam Bangkok Hotel. Instead of moving directly into a traditional ballroom programme, guests were encouraged to explore the event progressively, creating opportunities for discovery, interaction, conversation, and photography throughout the evening.

Guest response was particularly strong across the Montathip Court experiences and A Living Canvas. Guests actively explored the immersive rooms and historical displays, while the final performance was well received for its combination of live music, puppetry, sword fighting, and celestial theatrical elements.
