Introduction

On the final night of 2025, Aman Nai Lert Bangkok hosted its very first New Year’s Eve celebration – an elegant and culturally-inspired evening titled “Shadow and Light.” Drawing from Thai heritage, mythology, and the ancient art of puppetry, the event was designed as a multi-act narrative that guided guests through an atmosphere of reflection, artistry, and celebration.

Set across different levels of the hotel, the experience blended refined dining, live music, theatrical performance, and a panoramic countdown overlooking the Bangkok skyline. Approximately 100 guests were welcomed into an environment that reflected Aman’s signature sense of place, serenity, and understated luxury.

• Celebrate the arrival of a luminous and prosperous new year, fostering connection, gratitude, and timeless memories within an atmosphere of understated luxury.

Event Program Highlights

Welcome Experience

Guests arrived to a lantern-lit welcome backdrop, where they were invited to take photos and begin the evening with a traditional kratong-floating ritual. Minglers dressed as mythological characters – including Mae Thorani, the goddess of the Earth, and celestial sun and moon figures – guided guests through the experience, setting a tone of cultural storytelling from the very first moment.

Theatrical Performances: Acts 1 – 4

On the 9th floor, the renowned Joe Louis Theatre presented a four-act performance inspired by traditional shadow puppetry was presented.

The story unfolded like a poetic opera, blending physical theatre, narration, and symbolic movement to tell the legend of a kingdom of light, its fall into darkness, and the search for renewal.

Key moments included:

• Expressive dance performances by characters such as the Princess of the City of Light and the lantern maker.
• A dramatic entrance by a towering three-metre puppet representing the malevolent spirit who had stolen the kingdom’s light.

The narrative progressed in sync with the dinner service, gently guiding guests through each act as the evening evolved.

Live Music & Rooftop Celebration

Throughout dinner, two live sets by the Paradise Bangkok Molam Band provided an atmospheric and culturally resonant soundtrack.
After dinner, guests moved to the 19th-floor lounge, where DJ Gaius led the energy into the final moments of the year.

The evening culminated in:

• A coordinated countdown on the open-air 19th floor terrace
• A fireworks display against the Bangkok skyline
• A festive yet refined DJ-led celebration into the early hours of 2026
